Calgary is situated in the southern part of the Canadian province of Alberta. Here the land is semi-arid rolling grassland but Calgarians do like to swim and boat and enjoy their water views. They have built several man-made lakes within the city, one of which is Sikome Lake in Fish Creek Park.

This watercolor painting was done in the Tropical Pavilion of the Muttart Conservatory. Blue Ginger grows about a meter or so high, with tall spikes of Blue Flowers and long rippling leaves. It’s exotic appearance caught my eye.
